This is a post about the best witchy shops in London.
I barely started this post and I already had Letters to Cleo’s Dangerous Type playing in my head alongside this iconic scene:

Coming from a small town in religious Brazil and growing up with some of the best witches in pop culture, all I wanted was a witchy shop like the one in The Craft! Last time I went to my parents’, I found an old diary I bought when I had just moved to the US. For some reason, I only wrote on it for my first two months there. (I didn’t even recognise that person when I read back so many years later!). The diary was called something like “Love Your Inner Goddess” and apparently I bought at a shop called Mystic Sister. Sadly, I can’t remember… but doing a quick google it sounds like that shop might’ve been just what I’d been looking for!
I must say, London doesn’t exactly have one like it but it just might have the next best thing! (I hear Wicca Moon in Eltham is a close bet!)

Treadwell’s Books, Bloomsbury
Treadwell’s Books in Bloomsbury is an absolute gem. This independent bookshop specialises in the occult, witchcraft, folklore and pagan studies. It’s small but curated with intention and it’s not just a shop. They host regular workshops, talks and classes. The vibe is more serious and scholarly, but still warm and inclusive. If you want to dive deeper into the historical roots of magic, this is the place to go. They also have different tarot readers on site!
The Astrology Shop, Covent Garden
The Astrology Shop in Covent Garden is perfect if your magic leans more celestial. Here you’ll find natal charts, astrological books and zodiac-themed everything. They print full personal horoscopes on-site and you can find tools and books to help you decode your birth chart like a pro. It’s one of the few dedicated astrology shops in the city and makes for a unique stop even if you’re just browsing. It’s probably the dustiest shop in London! But I think that possibly adds to the charm…?!
It’s also in the super touristy area of Covent Garden so it gets busy!
London, more than any other city, has a secret history concealed from view. Behind the official façade promoted by the heritage industry lies a city of esoteric traditions, obscure institutions, and forgotten locations. Occult London rediscovers this history, unearthing the hidden city that lies beneath our own. From the Elizabethan magic of Dr Dee and Simon Forman to the occult designs of Wren and Hawksmoor; from the Victorian London of Spring-Heeled Jack to the fin de siecle heyday of Madame Blavatsky and Aleister Crowley. This book describes these practitioners of the occult and their unorthodox beliefs, alongside the myths and legends through which the city has always been perceived. The role of the occult within London's literary history is also outlined, while a gazetteer maps the sites of London's most resonant occult locations.
Today we are experiencing a renewal of interest in the occult tradition, and Merlin Coverley examines the roots of this revival, exploring the rise of New Age philosophies and the emergence of psychogeography in shaping a new vision of the city.
The Atlantis Bookshop
Tucked away on Museum Street near the British Museum, The Atlantis Bookshop is arguably the most iconic occult bookstore in London. Opened in 1922, it’s been a hub for witches and esoteric thinkers for over a century. Gerald Gardner, the “father of modern Wicca,” was a regular here and the shop still holds events and workshops that honour the city’s deep magical history. You’ll find rare grimoires, books on ceremonial magic, Paganism, herbalism and more. It’s small and full of energy, just how a proper witchy bookshop should be. They also often host events and gatherings!
Watkins Books
Just a stone’s throw from Leicester Square, Watkins Books is another legendary esoteric institution. Operating since 1893, it stocks one of the most extensive collections of spiritual and mystical literature in the world. Expect everything from Kabbalah and Eastern mysticism to modern witchcraft, astrology, tarot and alternative healing. There’s always a great energy inside and they regularly host book launches and talks with well-known authors in the magical and metaphysical space. It’s also a great place to find gorgeous tarot decks, incense and thoughtful gifts.
Camden Market
If you’re looking for candles, spells and quirky magical gifts, Camden Market has a few stalls that can help like Quena and Camden Crystals. Besides, even though Camden has changed a lot over the years and became much more touristy, it’s still full of alt vibes and energy you can’t replicate.

House of Spells, Leicester Square
House of Spells near Leicester Square walks the line between fandom and witchy energy. It’s a themed gift shop with sections dedicated to Harry Potter, Game of Thrones and all things mythical. It’s not a metaphysical shop, but it’s a magical space with plenty of fun bits, especially if you’re looking for a gift or something light-hearted. Think of it as a gateway shop for the casually enchanted.
Wicca Moon, Eltham
Wicca Moon in Eltham is a bit of a trek from central London but well worth the journey. This shop is run by real witches and offers handmade spell kits, magical tools and personal consultations. They even offer courses in Wicca and psychic development. It’s one of the most authentic and community-based witch shops in the city and has a strong spiritual presence.
